Summary

This is the final release of EMAN2.0x before the prerelease version of EMAN2.1. EMAN2.1 will have some important changes which will effect backwards compatibility (BDB is being retired from EMAN2 in favor of HDF files and text files). This release version has a wide range of gradual improvements made over the last 10 months. As soon as the first 2.1alpha testing release is out, the nightly snapshots will be 2.1 snapshots rather than 2.0 snapshots, so this release version will be the canonical version of EMAN2.0x.

Naturally users of the snapshot versions have already seen most of the changes in 2.07. This version is really just a stable snapshot release.

Version changes

Some of the major changes since 2.06:

• 'Gold Standard' resolution test (e2refine_evenodd) improved, and should be used for all structures (in 2.1 it will be integrated with refinement).
• Uses the new unified EMAN2/SPARX MPI installer
• Histogram equalization in 2D image display for improved contrast
• New 'probe' mode in 2D image display
• Keyboard shortcuts in e2ctf.py GUI for rapid screening of large projects
• Improved DM3 support (Summit) and DM4 support added. Other file format compatibility also improved
• Many more...
