Direction to the workshop location

Weather

Note that Houston varies from about 70 - 80F (21-26C) during the day this time of year, though in the evenings it can sometimes get moderately chilly (perhaps as low as 15C). Humidity is often very high, particularly in the event of rain, which is unfortunately predicted for some of the weekend.

In the event of bad weather (it is also a shorter path), it is possible to make the walk to the workshop site almost entirely indoors. Enter The Marriott Hotel at street level, go to the second floor by escalator, and it is possible to cross by skybridge and walk through the Methodist Hospital Lobby to get to the site. Nonetheless, a travel umbrella might not be a bad idea, as well as shoes you don't mind getting wet.

Location

The event is being held at the Methodist Hospital Research Institute, which about a block from the National Center for Macromolecular Imaging at Baylor College of Medicine. Both of these institutions are part of the Texas Medical Center in Houston.

Airport Transportation

Shared vans (SuperShuttle) are available from both airports.

Cost for a cab is about $65 from IAH or $35 from Hobby (HOU) to the Medical Center. UBER is also an option if you like that.

If driving, we suggest following the instructions at the individual hotel websites. Please also check hotel site for parking info.

Houston does not have any trains or subways running to the airports. While there is now light rail service in the central part of the city, connecting many of the interesting tourist destinations, Houston is quite large, geographically, and cars remain the most common mode of transportation.
